With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leo J. Pelletier on July 28, 2026, at 76. He was the beloved husband and friend to his adoring wife, Claire (Ellis) Pelletier for 58 years, and a loving father to his son, Lee, and daughter-in-law, Eileen Chow. He was the son of Joan and the late Leo O. Pelletier of Salem, MA. Leo is survived by his two brothers, John Pelletier and his wife Laura, along with their sons Logan, Ber, and Beckett, and Jamie Pelletier.
Leo was born on May 7, 1950, in Beverly and raised in the Salem Willows. He had a terrific sense of humor and was a kind, sweet, and generous man who worked hard throughout his life. Leo was blessed to live life his own way. He played football for both Bishop Fenwick and Salem High School, and graduated from Salem High in 1968, where he met the love of his life, Claire.
Following graduation, Leo enlisted in the US Air Force and served as a Military Police Officer (one year in Vietnam). After receiving an honorable discharge and returning home, he married Claire and devoted the rest of his life to his family. Following his military service, he worked at Sylvania for 26 years and 31 years for the US Postal Service until his retirement.
Leo was his son's Youth Soccer coach, never missing a single soccer, basketball or baseball game. He truly enjoyed life with his family and loved his home, especially his “Man-cave”. He loved dining out with Lee and Eileen, and taking daily brisk walks with Claire after which he enjoyed an iced coffee. For decades, Leo enjoyed Patriots season tickets.
Leo passed away unexpectedly at Brigham and Women's Hospital. His absence leaves an immeasurable grief in our hearts, and he will be truly missed until we meet again. He was a great husband, dad, and friend.
The wake will be held at Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem, on Tuesday August 4, 2026 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass in Ste Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:00 AM.
