WEBSTER –Irving T. “Irv” Moran, 73, died at home on Friday, July 24, 2026 with his family by his side.
He leaves his life partner of 20 years, Heather L. Mantolesky; a daughter, Jillian E. Moran both of Webster; a sister, Bonita Galas of North Port, Florida; cousins, Travis Sirrine of Putnam, Conn.; Donald Sirrine and his Wife Judy of Pomfret Center, Conn.; and his brother and sister firefighters.
He was born on May 20, 1953 in Miami, Florida, the son of Thomas and Melba (Sirrine) Moran. As a young boy he grew up in Hollywood, Florida, before moving to Avon Park, Florida where he attended Avon Park High School.
While in high school Irv started working at his father’s garage "Moran Auto", he then worked at the local GM Pontiac car dealership, "Ross Backus Auto" in Sebring, Florida to become Parts Manager.
He spent many of years enjoying time on his parent’s ranch in Avon Park, before moving to Thompson Connecticut in 1979.
After moving to Connecticut, he started working for "Precision Emergency Vehicles" as a serviceman specializing in electrical wiring. From there his entrepreneurial skills took off and he established "Applied Rescue Systems of New England", as New England's Representative for Lukas rescue tools. He dedicated his time to learning advanced operations of vehicle extrication in order to be the best all inclusive Rescue tool dealer providing sales, service, repair, and trainings. He was awarded "Salesman of the Year" in 1989 by Lukas of America.
During his first few years as New England's Lukas tool rep, he was recruited by Chief of Webster Civil Defense (Rescue), Chris Jolda, to join as their extrication specialist.
Irv moved to Webster Mass in 1986 to become a dedicated member of the Webster Rescue Squad, where he took honor in guiding generations of first responders while providing service to the town of Webster and surrounding communities saving countless lives. In 2018 he honorably retired as a captain of Webster Fire Rescue after 32 years of service, at the mandatory age of 65.
Throughout the years he took on many odd jobs including working for MB Carpentry, Lundgren Honda Auto Repair, Auto Zone, and NAPA.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, a gun collector, and a life member of the NRA. His greatest treasure was the time he spent with Heather and Jillian.
Funeral services will be private, however a celebration of life will be announced in the near future. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
