Melba Jean Everett Ott, 82, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, July 25, 2026, at her residence.
Graveside services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 6-8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ott was born August 14, 1943, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late John Porter & Willie Mae Willis Everett. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and retired as a Licensed Insurance Agent for Insurance Services of the South Inc. She enjoyed fishing, tending to her yard, horses, cooking and most of all spending time with her family. Mrs. Ott was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie E. Ott; children: John W. Singleton, Jr, Timothy L. Singleton and Bruce Singleton (Dana); stepchildren: Mike Ott, Jodi Ott and Claire Peacock; 10 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Andy Ott and a sister, Evelyn Freeze.
