Rita M. (Mancini) Allen, 94, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026,
surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary
(Nardella) Mancini. Rita was the devoted wife of the late George P. Allen, with whom she shared 62
years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
Rita is survived by her three daughters, Bonnie Tiano of Worcester, Laurie Demers and her husband
Michael of Shrewsbury, and Andrea Strathmeyer and her husband Carl of Lunenburg; her son-in-law
Steve Morrill, husband of her predeceased daughter Linda (Linn) Morrill; four grandchildren, Leah
Bagley, Lauren Caparso, Michael Demers, and Leandro Strathmeyer; and six great-grandchildren.
A talented seamstress, Rita lovingly handmade clothes for her children. She was an amazing
homemaker who took pride in creating a warm and beautiful home while caring for her husband and
raising her family. A wonderful cook and baker, Rita’s skills in the kitchen inspired the same talents in
her daughters.
After George’s passing, she continued to live independently in their home, maintaining it beautifully
and cooking her own meals well into her later years, with daily visits from her daughters. Sharp as a
tack, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and stayed mentally active throughout her life. She was also
instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren and was an ever-present fixture in their lives.
Rita had a special gift for bringing the entire family together, especially for joyful holiday dinners filled
with love and laughter. Her talent for interior design shone throughout her home, and her greatest joy
was spending time with her family. Rita’s strength, independence, creativity, and unconditional love
will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Arrangements are under the care of O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME. Services will be held at the
convenience of the family.
