Roseann Frances (Ragusa) Chardo, 82, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving children, on Thursday, July 16, 2026.Born in Boston and raised in Medford and Everett, she was the cherished daughter of the late Damiano and Mary Rose (Spinale) Ragusa, and the beloved wife of the late Leonard C. Chardo, Sr.
A graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1962, her strong work ethic was instilled in her at a young age. A deeply devoted mother and exceptional homemaker, she served as a Concord Police dispatcher and later operated System Services with her husband, Len. After calling Concord home for more than 30 years, she and Len relocated to their dream home on the ocean in Gloucester in 2007.
Family was Roseann’s biggest passion in life. She loved hosting holidays and carrying on her parents’ legacy through traditional Sicilian foods. Her dining room was truly the heart of the home, where she found her greatest joy gathering her family together, laughing, and sharing good times.
A woman of profound faith, Roseann was a devout Catholic who earned her Master Teacher Certificate and was honored by the Cardinal for her dedication as a CCD teacher. She was also a gifted crocheter, a member of the garden club, and volunteered at school events.
Roseann held a special, compassionate place in her heart for all animals. She loved traveling to the islands and collecting seashells, especially on Sanibel Island. Her love was genuine, and everyone who knew her felt it. She loved to laugh, have fun, and be surrounded by family and friends. Her vibrant spirit, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was the devoted mother of Leonard C. Chardo, Jr., of Gloucester; Marcey Ann Chardo Dos Santos of Florida; and Kristen Ann Chardo and her wife, Jennifer Wright, both of Florida. She was the sister of the late Marguerite and Philip, and the sister-in-law of Edward and Karen. Roseann was also the proud Mum of her beloved dog, Rico. She is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Wednesday, July 22nd, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 10:30 AM.
