
WEBSTER – Barbara J. (Gleifers) Munsch, 92, died Thursday, July 16, in Harrington Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
She leaves two sons, Mark J. Munsch and his wife Patricia A. of Southbridge, and John J. Munsch and his wife Jodi L. of North Grosvenordale, CT; a daughter with whom she had lived, Deborah J. “Debbie” Plaza and her husband Richard A., Sr. of Douglas; six grandchildren, Michael Munsch, Amanda DeFosse, Erin Messier, Richard Plaza, Jr., Ryan Munsch, Kevin Plaza; eight great-grandchildren, Alexia Munsch, Owen DeFosse, Cameron DeFosse, Sophie Messier, Lucy Messier, Chase Plaza, Riley Plaza and Rory Munsch; and her “adopted daughter” and close friend, Nancy Fournier of Dudley. She was preceded in death by her son Paul W. Munsch in 2024.
She was born on November 11, 1933 in Webster the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Neulieb)Gleifers and was a 1951 graduate of Bartlett High School. She lived in Webster for 65 years before moving to Douglas in 2005.
Mrs. Munsch first worked as an administrative assistant for the Boston Gas and Electric Company before running a day care out of her home. She retired in 2002.
She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford. She enjoyed word jumbles, collecting dolls and most especially spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of Webster Manor for their exceptional care of Barbara during her illness.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, at 11:00 AM in Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home prior to services. Donations in her memory may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main Street, Oxford, MA 01540.
