John "Jack" Walter Sutcliffe, of Glocester, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family.
Jack shared 24 years of marriage with the late Patricia Duffy, and together they made their home in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where they raised their two sons, Michael and Kevin. He later shared 28 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jo-Ann. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a loyal friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone he met.
A graduate of Attleboro High School, Jack excelled in track and field before proudly serving in the United States Navy for six years. Following his military service, he spent more than five decades working in the jewelry industry, designing, manufacturing, and selling wholesale to clients throughout the region. He genuinely enjoyed his work and especially valued the lasting relationships he built with his clients. Jack believed in an old-school approach to business, built on trust, honesty, and treating people with kindness and respect. He was well respected by his clients, who valued his integrity and friendship. Jack had a gift for making people feel heard. He was an exceptional listener, always ready with a kind word, thoughtful advice, or a story that could brighten someone's day.
During the years he raised his young family in Attleboro, Jack found his greatest joy in the outdoors. He inspired a lifelong love of nature in his sons through days spent fishing, hiking, and picking apples and blueberries together. An avid gardener, he took great pride in growing vegetables and harvesting his own produce. Those simple traditions created cherished memories for his sons.
Later in life, Jack found happiness in a new chapter with Jo-Ann. Together they loved opening their home to friends and family, where everyone was always made to feel welcome. Whether enjoying a delicious Italian meal, sharing sushi, or gathering for a backyard cookout, Jack cherished the conversations, laughter, and memories created around the table. His greatest happiness came from simply being surrounded by the people he loved.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Jo-Ann Sutcliffe; his son, Michael Sutcliffe, and daughter-in-law, Carol; his stepdaughters, Nicole and Christina; his grandsons, Michael Jr., Craig, and Dylan; his step-grandchildren, Bobby, Beau, and Sophie; and his great-grandchildren, Kylee, Conner, and Kelsey. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Duffy, and his beloved son, Kevin Sutcliffe.
His family finds comfort in knowing that Jack's final days were spent exactly as he would have wanted - fishing, laughing, and surrounded by the people he loved most. His kindness, gentle heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered always.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Scituate on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Jack's memory by spending time with those you love, slowing down to enjoy life's simple moments, and creating lasting memories together.
