Lawrence Eugene Ortoli, 71, of Derry, NH, passed away Monday July 6, 2026, at the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born on July 28, 1954 in Derby, CT, a son of the late John and Viola Ortoli. Lawrence was a resident of Derry for the past 15 years, formerly living in Keene and also Vermont. He proudly followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the military and serving in the US Army.
Following his US Army enlistment he studied at the University of Connecticut, graduating summa cum laude in 1983 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
His first post-grad job with Kodak created a special bond with Rochester, NY, which he would visit periodically throughout his life. During his career he experienced much of the US, but he always returned to his beloved New England.
Work supporting the US military brought him back to Vermont and New Hampshire, and he eventually retired from Production Process in Londonderry in 2022.
Larry took full advantage of New England’s natural bounty, spending as much time as possible outdoors, camping, hiking, canoeing & practicing photography.
He is survived by one brother, Gerald “Gerry” Ortoli of Bothell, WA; as well as many extended family and friends.
Following cremation, memorial services will be held privately by family at a date in the future. Friends and family wishing to honor Larry’s memory are encouraged to donate in his name to either the USO at https://www.uso.org/?form=MainDonationForm&sc=webdonate/>or the Gary Sinise Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 1858, Merrifield, VA 22116 or at https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/donate /.
