Obituary

Robert L. Sudduth, 78, of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away on July 4, 2026.

Born on October 30, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, Robert lived a life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, steadfast Christian faith, and the joy he found in creating with his own hands.

Robert shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lucia Sudduth (Lebedew). Together, they built a life and family that remained at the heart of everything he did.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucia; his three children, Carla, Adam, and Dina; and his four grandchildren, Delilah, Jacey, Roberta, and Marcos. He also leaves behind his beloved “therapy” cat, Raynnes, and his granddog, Luna, both of whom held a very special place in his heart.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Robert served aboard the USS Willis A. Lee (DL-4) from 1967 to 1968 and the USS Harlan R. Dickson (DD-708) from 1969 to 1972. His service to his country remained a source of great pride throughout his life.

Robert was also a proud and devoted Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church in Dorchester, where his steadfast faith and commitment to serving others were an important part of his life.

Robert had a lifelong passion for carpentry and woodworking. He loved to build, create, and beautify the world around him, approaching every project with patience, precision, and meticulous attention to detail. He took great pride in his craftsmanship and in creating things with his own hands. His tools, however, were another matter entirely: everyone who knew him knew better than to touch them!

A Farewell Celebration honoring Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Dorchester, 401 Ashmont Street, Dorchester, Massachusetts. A committal service will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, where Robert will be laid to rest in honor of his service to our country.
