Joseph (Joe) Byron Ramos, 64, of Ventura, California, passed away on July 6, 2026, in Ventura, California.
Joe was born on November 16, 1961, in Lomita, California, to José Antonio Ramos and Rebe Reva Robinson.
Joe was immensely proud of his career as a union journeyman elevator mechanic. He dedicated his entire career to the trade, working for International Union Of Elevator Constructors Local 18, Amtech Elevator Company and later Otis Elevator Company, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic.
Joe loved traveling and exploring the world, especially vacations to Cancún, and was always excited to experience new places and new things. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing pickleball, visiting Disneyland, and playing poker with his buddies. He understood the importance of unwinding and enjoying life's simple pleasures after a long day's work- preferably with a good book or an episode of Forensic Files.
Above all, Joe was an incredible father and provider for his family. He cared deeply for everyone around him and genuinely wanted to make the world a better place - even if that sometimes meant passionately yelling at politicians on the television. He was generous, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand. His warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Joe is survived by his three children, Kari, Cheyenne, and Kyle; Candice, his longtime companion and her grandson, Christian; and his sisters, Angie and Cindee.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, José Antonio Ramos and Rebe Reva Robinson; and his siblings, Danny, Billy, Connie and Ginny.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ventura County Rescue Mission, a cause Joe faithfully supported through monthly donations.
We hope you will join us to honor and remember Joe on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura, California.
