Beloved Joe Morales Jr, age 78 of Oak View, CA passed away peacefully and comfortably on the morning of Friday, July 3, 2026 in Oak View. Joe was born in Harlingen, Texas to Jose Morales and Rita Perez on March 24, 1948. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1967. After high school, Joe proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, fought in the Vietnam War, and in 1973 was honorably discharged. He went on to receive his AA degree from East Los Angeles College in 1975, and for a time attended Cal Poly Pomona where he studied marine biology. For several years Joe worked for the telephone company in Los Angeles and later for different cable companies.
Joe was an avid fisherman and felt most alive outdoors, he loved gardening, cooking and baking. He was extremely resourceful. He was a great story teller. He loved Jesus and was looking forward to the time he could be with Him. Before his major decline in health, Joe practiced generosity, compassion, and kindness. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. Everyone who knew Joe loved him.
Joe Morales Jr. is survived by his daughter, Noemi Morales of Los Angeles, his two remaining siblings Mary Jane Dediemar and Henry (Hank) Morales, his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Andrea S. Morales who passed away in 2002.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Haave House and Pacific Crest Hospice of Ventura for their amazing care for Joe’s last days on this Earth. Under their care, Joe died with dignity. Though he lived in various states, Joe’s last request was to move back to California to be closer to family and close to the beauty this state holds. He got his wish. Joe will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life memorial service for Joe at the Joseph P. Reardon chapel on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:30am with Pastor (and friend) Justin Livengood of Chapel of Praise officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
