William Walter Duggan, 74, of Lowell, known to family and friends as "Duggie," passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 6, 2026, after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Parent) Duggan, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on March 21, 1952, Duggie was the son of the late Robert Duggan and the late Priscilla (Wilson) Duggan. He grew up in the neighborhood known as South Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1970.
Duggie worked as the Maintenance Director for the Lowell Housing Authority, and was also a skilled interior house painter. For more than 40 years, he served as bartender and treasurer of the Knickerbocker, where he was a constant, familiar, and welcoming presence. At home, he filled his time by working on the house and the lawn, as well as putting together woodworking projects in his garage.
An avid golfer, Duggie was a social member of the Longmeadow Golf Club. He was known for his dry sense of humor and his willingness to lend a hand, and was always there for his family and friends whenever they needed him. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, in particular his granddaughters, whom he never failed to greet with his signature "Hey little girl." Anyone who knew Duggie can say with certainty that his life was "a wicked good time".
In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his sons, Dana Duggan and his wife, Kerri, of South Carolina, and Joshua Duggan of Lowell; his grandchildren, Jaimi and fiancé Ray, Brianna, and Paige; his great-grandchildren, Bentley and Amelia; and his siblings, Darlene Ross and her husband, Paul, of Northwood, NH, Michael Duggan and his wife, Debbie, of Lowell, Jackie Stuart of Salem, NH, and Patricia Liguori and her husband, Jim, of Townsend, and a wonderful group of neices and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July, 10, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. At 6 p.m., we will have some close friends and family sharing spoken remembrances of Duggie at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
