Elizabeth A. (Rapallo) Cammarata

Elizabeth A. (Rapallo) Cammarata passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Kaplan Hospice in Danvers on July 3rd. She was 104. Born in East Boston, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Giovanna (Gassira) Rapallo.

A long-time Medford resident, Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was a remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest. She was born into a wonderful family which was part of the fabric of the neighborhood in which they lived. Once married to her husband of 65 years, Stephen F. Cammarata, they set out to build their own family, full of love and happiness.

Although Elizabeth worked as a jewelry sales person, her emphasis was always on family and friendship. Music, games, travel and celebration were the evidence of her inner strength, sense of humor and her long and fruitful life. Her table and homemade sauce was where she regularly gathered her family. A talented pianist and dancer, she always enjoyed a night out and sharing laughs at family parties. She enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods and whether there or at home with family and friends she was quite a force at the poker table and at shooting pool. Full of energy, she regularly walked to keep healthy and loved birds. The last of her generation, she will be remembered for the wonderful life she shared with all who knew her.

The beloved wife of 65 years to the late Stephen F. Cammarata who passed away in 2011, Elizabeth was a devoted mother to Stephen P. Cammarata and his wife Susan, Jan Cammarata, and Judy Landry and her husband Dave. She was a loving “Nanny” to Erik Vienneau and his wife Elaine, Renée Cammarata-Hamilton and her husband Mike, Lauren Iannelli and her husband Joe, Justin Cammarata, Nicholas Cammarata and Jenn, Michael MacDonald and his wife Kate, Patrick MacDonald and his wife Stephanie, Caitlin MacDonald and David, and David A. Landry. She was a loving “Great Nanny” to Laila, Gianna, Connor, Tyler, Caleb, Vinny, Nora and Charles. Elizabeth was the dear sister of the late Joe, Nick, Steve, Frank, Bernadette, Andrew, Eddie and Freddie.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Saturday morning, July 11th, from 9 -11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
