Thomas A. Fiske, Sr., age 86, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Cobb) Fiske, to whom he was wed for forty-nine years.

Born in Mansfield, MA on March 30, 1940, he was a loving son of the late Howard R. “Dick”, Sr. and Jessie B. (Brooks) Fiske.

Tom grew up in town and was a graduate of Mansfield High School, where he served as president of the Electronics Club. Following graduation, he worked as a Call Firefighter for the Town of Mansfield, at the former Mansfield TV Shoppe and parttime at the E.G. Sherman & Son Funeral Home in Mansfield.

During the time of the Vietnam War, Tom proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following four years of faithful service, he was honorably discharged on January 16, 1966 with the rank of Airman First Class. He next returned to his studies, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Fiske was employed for many years as an Electrical Engineer at the Foxboro Co. He later worked for Wind River, where he built the processors and operating systems for the Mars Rover and had the distinction of having his own pattern for manufacturing Intergraded Circuit Boards Self-Diagnostics.

When younger, Tom was a ham radio operator for the Mansfield Civil Defense, worked the voting poles at Mansfield elections, served for twenty years as an instructor for Dale Carnegie and was a former member of the Mansfield Conservation Commission. Tom was also a talented woodworker but most of all, loved spending time with his adoring family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Thomas A. Fiske, Jr. and his significant other Celine Blondel of Highgate, Vermont, James D. Fiske and his wife Petra of Williamsburg, Virginia, Kevin G. Fiske and his wife Susan of Cedar City, Utah and the late John F. Fiske and Darryl C. Smart, who recently passed away on April 17, 2026. He was the dear brother of the late Howard R. Fiske, Jr. and Howard’s late wife Margaret Fiske. He is also survived by his cherished 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, July 18th from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Words of remembrance will be offered by family members on Saturday, July 18th at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial, along with military honors will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
