PACHECO, Geraldine A. (Rooney) of Dedham, MA, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Andrew W. Pacheco. Loving daughter of the late Gertrude M. (Bibbey) and Joseph M. Rooney. Devoted mother to Deborah Verdi and her longtime companion Fred Scharnikow, William Pacheco, Diane Repetto and her husband Joe, and Doreen LaBrecque and her husband Michael. Cherished grandmother of Ashley Coreth, Kerianne Bullington, Kaitlyn Pacheco, Haley Ryan, Joseph Verdi, Cassidy Repetto, Jenson LaBrecque, Andrew Verdi, Ally LaBrecque, and Tori LaBrecque. Proud great-grandmother of Caden Coreth and Everly Coreth. Predeceased by her brothers Joseph Rooney and John Rooney and her sisters Gertrude Ryan and Dorothy Packard. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Geri was a woman of deep faith, finding comfort and strength in her relationship with God. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church where she found great joy in worship and fellowship. Geri worked in the rectory office and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Geri was a graduate of Aquinas College. Shortly after completing her studies, Geri met the love of her life, Andy. They moved to Dedham where they raised their four children.
Geri spent many years as a volunteer for the Town, including the Dedham Boosters Club and as a coach for girls softball. Geri worked for the Town of Dedham for thirty-two years in both the school and town departments. Geri was elected Town Clerk in 1997 and held that position until her retirement in 2005. Geri was also a member of the Council on Aging Board.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. Dedham on Friday, July 10th from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 420 High St., Dedham (accessible parking in the rear of the church). Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
