Obituary

GILFORD ---- Norman Kenrick "Rick" Weeks, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Belknap County Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Rick was born on December 15, 1944, in Laconia, the son of the late Norman S. Weeks and Dorothy E. (Flanders) Weeks. He lived in Gilford for most of his life.

He graduated from Laconia High School, Berwick Academy, and was a Dean's List Graduate from UNH in 1968. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and was the Tenor Soloist at his graduation.

He then enlisted in the United States Air Force proudly and honorably serving his country; where he played and excelled in the Strategic Air Force Marching Band as a Sargeant. He played the clarinet and was fortunate to perform in many countries playing for many dignitaries and the troops in Vietnam and many other locations around the world.

Rick had a great love for music with a strong tenor voice to be heard. Over 25 years he performed throughout the Lakes Region, mostly with the Streetcar Company, in many local musicals, something he truly enjoyed and a group he was dedicated to.

In his spare time Rick could be found on the slopes of Gunstock and other mountains or on a sailboat cruising the waters of Lakes Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam and motor boating off the shores of Scituate Harbor, MA and Cape Cod which brought him joy and peace. He enjoyed a seventeen-year weekend and vacation excursion to Drakes Island, ME, where he had many fun occasions with the Edney family. He also had a lifetime close friendship with Joe and Meg Hempel.

After Rick's honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked in his father's insurance and real estate business, Belknap Agency, which he eventually owned.
In 2002 he merged the company with the Byse Agency, owned by his cousin, Don Flanders, and retired in 2014.

In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy D. and J. Normand Paquette. Rick is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Stephen E. and Pauline B. Weeks of Gilford. nephews Stephen E. Weeks, Jr. and his wife Kim of Laconia and their sons, Jackson, Trevor and Bradley, who loved to have their great-uncle support them while cheering at their games; J. Normand Paquette, Jr. and his partner, Luceen of Laconia; and his niece Lisa A. Clute and her husband, Gordon, and their two daughters, Hallie and Regan, of Tahoe, CA, who loved the roasted red peppers he brought to all family get togethers.

Rick is also survived by several great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins. Rick's wishes were to have services private for the family with his cremains scattered at some of his favorite places where he liked to sail, Lakes Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam; and motor cruise off the shores of Scituate Harbor and Cape Cod, a special place to him where he spent many Labor Day weekends with family friends, Jack and Lucky Hill.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations in Rick's name be made to a charity of your choice.
