CHICOPEE – Gerald R. “Gerry” Roy, 85, of Chicopee Falls, died at his home Saturday, June 20, 2026, surrounded by the comfort and care of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on March 5, 1941, a beloved son of the late Philippe and Blanche (Desmarais) Roy. He was employed for many years at the Monsanto Chemical Company in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield where he served as a union steward and retired in 2018 at the age of 56. Gerry enjoyed golfing at Westover Golf Club and Chicopee Country Club. In his retirement, he enjoyed reading novels, completing the daily crossword puzzle, and cooking delicious, creative meals. He loved animals of every kind and there was never a time he didn’t own any, whether it be a stray cat that adopted him or a pet skunk. But above all, he loved spending time with his family. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Eveline J. “Bunny” (Lafleur) Roy, whom he married on November 17, 1962, at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee; they were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving and devoted children, Mathew Roy and his wife, Jessica, of Granby; Sharon Roy of Ludlow; and Stephen R. Roy and his wife, Penny, of Chicopee; his two cherished grandsons, Jeremy Ribadeneyra and his wife, Rachel; and Nathan Roy; his brother, Richard Roy and his wife, Sandra, of Colchester, VT; his brother-in-law, Ralph Lafleur and his wife, Juliette, of Jacksonville, FL; his sister-in-law, Reine Lafleur-Roche and her husband, David Roche, of Chicopee; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. He will be sadly missed by his two feline furbabies, Mischief and Mayhem.
