
Evelyn Lassiter Phillips, 95, of Brookfield passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Steve Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Mrs. Phillips will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery in Vanceville.
Derra Salter, Quin Godwin, Kyle Salter, Brandon Bates, Austin Bates, and Jeff Peters will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 30, 1931, in Tift County, Mrs. Phillips was the daughter of the late John Wesley Lassiter and Viola Gay Lassiter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Franklin Phillips, who passed away in 2008; and one daughter, Janet Salter Peters. She was a graduate of Tifton High School and retired from Tift General Hospital, where she served as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had been a member of Brookfield Baptist Church for 51 years and taught Sunday School there for many years.
Mrs. Phillips loved her Lord and Savior and her family. She read the Bible and studied scripture all of her life. Because of her love for the Lord and His creation, she loved gardening and beautiful flowers.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by three sons and one daughter, Myra Godwin and husband, Joel, of Valdosta, Don L. Salter of Mobile, Alabama, John Allen Salter of Page, Arizona and Darrell Wayne Salter and his wife, Shelley, of Albany; one brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Mary Jane Lassiter of Jesup; two sisters, Myrtice Bennett of Tifton and Betty Cox of Omega; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
