Obituary

Phyllis E. (Beams) Carraher, 97, of Worcester died Friday, June 26th in the Lutheran Home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 51 years, Francis X. Carraher, Sr. died in 2005. She leaves seven children William T. and his wife, Fay Carraher of Milford, NH, Francis X. Carraher, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Sanford, NC, Mary C. Quillen and her late husband, Jeffrey of Worcester, Thomas R. Carraher of Framingham, Joseph P. and his wife, Deborah Carraher of Hampton, NH Richard J. and his wife, Denise Carraher of Worcester and Elizabeth M. Cox and her husband, Michael of Paxton; her sister, Mildred Cummings of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Randolph and Laura (Henry) Beams. Phyllis was a woman whose warmth, joy, and vibrant spirit touched all who knew her. She worked for many years as a secretary in a dental office and later as a clerk for a title company, where she was known for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic. Later in retirement, she volunteered for several years at Jacob Hiatt Elementary School.
A member of Immaculate Conception Church, Phyllis found comfort and strength in her faith throughout her life.
She had a true love for music and could often be found singing and dancing, bringing happiness and laughter wherever she went. Phyllis also enjoyed playing bingo, and those who knew her would often say she had a special touch of luck whenever she played.
Above all, Phyllis will be remembered for her joyful personality, her loving heart, and the happiness she brought to her family and friends. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever be held close by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Calling hours are Tuesday, July 7th from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 320 Nevada Street, 201, Newton, MA 02460.
