Janice Clarissa (Boynton) Day
1932 - 2026
Yarmouth - Janice Day passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, at her daughter’s home after a long illness. She was born July 14, 1932, in Cornish, Maine to Harry Deering Boynton and Florence Annie (Warren) Boynton.
Janice always knew she wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from Cornish High School and Gotham State Teachers College she and her husband, Glenwood C. Day, settled in Limerick, Maine, where she taught 3rd grade for the majority of 38 years.
Janice was an active community member, serving on the Planning Board, a member of the Limerick Congregational Church, the Limerick Historical Society, and the Limerick Research Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, attending bean suppers and lunching with friends. She always seemed to have the coffee pot on and a sweet treat ready for whoever stopped by. She was well known for her lime jello salad that she made for all the pot luck dinners and holiday gatherings.
Her favorite place was usually outside, whether sitting on her porch, taking a walk, or fishing with her husband. Her favorite view was of the mountains of western Maine.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, E. Donald Boynton, and her husband, Glenwood C. Day. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Boyer, her son-in-law, Scott Boyer, and 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 11, from 1 - 2 PM, followed by a 2 PM memorial service at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St, Cornish. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
