Peter Kiernan, age 73 passed away on June 22 surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. Peter was born on Nov 14, 1952 in New York City.
Peter is survived by his loving wife Robbie. He is also survived by his father Peter as well as his sister Barbara and her two children Matt and Kate, his beloved aunts: Carol, Eileen, Maureen, Pat, Joan, his Uncle Jim and his many loving cousins. Peter was predeceased by his mother Mary Louise.
He is also survived by his beloved in-laws Brian and Elaine McAlice, Cindy and Tim Rowles, and Tim McAlice. This includes his many nieces and nephews and their children who he loved dearly and was so proud of. Peter loved sharing stories with the family of his youth growing up in Manhattan and Queens and we will all remember them with fondness.
Peter and his wife lived in Norwalk CT for over 25 years. During this time Peter worked as a NYC carpenter. He was particularly proud of the work he did at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Carnegie Hall.
After retiring Peter and Robbie moved to Westport, MA, an area he loved for its nature and serenity. Nothing made him happier than weekly visits to local farm stands in the summer and enjoying rides down to East Beach in his beloved 1995 Bronco. Although a lifelong Yankee fan, he happily accepted his adopted Red Sox family and all other New England sports.
Although health issues limited his mobility in the past few years, he still stayed as active as possible and never complained about his condition. He enjoyed walking with his cane around the yard, watching the wildlife and seeing the gardens.
Peter was a great lover of animals and nature. He was especially fond of cats and worked with his wife while in Norwalk to catch and neuter area strays and care for their needs. His two kitties Grace and Harper will miss him dearly.
