Albert J. Fontaine, Jr., 75, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, June 25, 2026 with family by his side. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Souza) Fontaine.
Mr. Fontaine was born in Fall River, son of the late Rita C. (Thibeault) Fontaine and had resided in Westport for most of his life. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Fall River and prior to retirement, worked as a mechanical engineer. Always a problem solver and fixer of all things, he enjoyed working on computers and repairing cars and trucks. He was willing to help out anyone in any way he could. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and he will be remembered for being a dedicated husband and father.
Survivors along with his wife include his son: Scott A. Fontaine and his wife Amy of Everson, WA; his daughter-in-law: Jacqueline Fontaine of Westport; 2 sisters: Anne Dias of Westport and Lorraine Munro of Berkley; 6 grandchildren: Rudy, Alan and Elia Fontaine, Jonathan and Cameron Root and Julia Fontaine; along with nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Albert J. Fontaine III and brother of the late Robert Fontaine, Beatrice Vasconcelos, Elaine Rioux and Blanche Aguiar.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, June 29, 2026 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday from 2-5 P.M.
Interment will be private.
