Obituary

Patricia “Tootsie” Mae Torres, 67, of Arcadia, Florida, died Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Tidwell Hospice House in Arcadia Florida.

Funeral services will be held 11AM, Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, Georgia, with Deacon J. Brian Bergeron officiating. The interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 4PM until 6PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mrs. Torres was born August 31, 1958, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Chester Lee and Sarah Nell Osborne Blackman. “Tootsie” as she was known, retired from the Desoto County Sheriff’s office where she worked in the jail. She was a devoted member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Arcadia, Florida for over thirty years. Tootsie was a wonderful storyteller and would keep you laughing as you sat on the edge of your seat. She enjoyed spending time with her family going to church and visiting new places. She is best described as being adventurous, and putting herself last, and always first to give whether it be family friends or her community.

She is survived by her devoted husband of forty years, Eulogio “Chino” Torres; her children: Charles “Buck” Hatcher, and Carlos Eulogio Torres & Kristin; several grandchildren including: Zayda, Savannah, Devin, Raidyn, Charles, Victoria, Arisbeth, Amisadiya, Ruben and Melissa; 6 great grandchildren; her siblings: Melba Brown, Deborah Pippin and Dale Blackman; In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Nina “Bitsy” Paige; brothers: Herbert Monroe Smith and John Franklin Smith Jr.; and an infant sister, Shirley Juanita Blackman.
