Kathy Thibault was a lady on the go. Whether she was taking photos for weddings, models, and out in the wilderness and wildlife, or teaching gymnastics to aspiring youngsters, or planning the next family celebration. Her drive and zest for life were the essence of her own unique spirit.
Kathleen M.” Kathy” Thibault, 62, of North Smithfield died Friday June 19, 2026, in Woonsocket after a sudden and unexpected medical emergency.
Born in Milford, MA she was a daughter of Christina S. (Hanson) Marcoux, and her husband Leo, of Woonsocket and the late Kenneth R. Burt. She was raised in Woonsocket and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School with the class of 1981. Kathy also took photography courses at Providence College.
In her earlier years Kathy worked at a photography studio and fell in love with photography. She was later employed for many years as a property management professional with AJM Realty and Property Management.
Kathy was a talented photographer, always on the lookout for just the right setting or just the right scene to create a beautiful photo, which led to the creation of her own business called Kathleen’s Photography for over a decade. She kept active though participating in karate and teaching gymnastics with the Providence Turners. She enjoyed gardening and especially growing vegetables, fruits, spices, and beautiful flowers every year.
Kathy will be remembered for her love, care and concern for her family and friends. While she was quiet upon first meeting you, but once she got to know you, the real kind, funny and loving person she came shining through. Although her family is heartbroken by her sudden passing they will forever cherish Kathy’s loving memory and her cheerful and happy spirit in their hearts forever as they honor the legacy of their mother, daughter, sister aunt and friend.
Kathleen was the loving and devoted mother of Peter Mazarella and his wife Rosemary, (who saw as more than a daughter-in-law, she was truly like a daughter to Kathy), of Warwick and Thomas Thibault, III of North Smithfield.
Kathy was the beloved sister of Steven Burt and his wife Kathleen of Woonsocket, Kristeen Barry and her partner Brian Nichols of Brooklyn CT, Scott Barry of Woonsocket, Kelly Rossi and her husband Nick of Conway SC, Cynthia Guerin and her husband John of Uxbridge, James Burt of Warren, MA and the late Jon Burt. She was the granddaughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Tringle) Burt and the late Robert and Grace Hanson. Kathy is survived by Peter’s father Antonio Mazzarella of Pawtucket and Thomas’s father Thomas Thibault, Jr. of North Smithfield.
Kathy is also survived by her extended family of many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families and her coworkers and many friends.
Everyone is welcome to gather to honor and remember Kathy at visiting hours on Saturday June 27th from 9:00 am to Noon at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Kathy will be laid to rest in a private service at a later date.
