Simone N. (Denault) Gilpatrick, age 87, passed away on June 22, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 26, 1938 in Springfield, daughter of the late Ovila Denault and Jeanne F. (Maheu) Denault. Simone attended grammar School at St Aloysius and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, Class of 1957 where she played the trumpet in the marching band. She went on to work as a personal secretary at Hamilton Standard in Connecticut. While raising her children she became the secretary and part owner of the Golden Nail Contractors in Chicopee, along with her husband Ronald Gilpatrick. She was a member of Cursillo Movement for over 40 years and she studied to become CPE at Mercy Hospital. She played in a “women over 50” Basketball League for many years and enjoyed coaching basketball when her daughter Gisele was young. She also enjoyed cross country skiing but her real passion was music and singing. She & Ron would sing along while travelling to their favorite camping places in Wells, Maine & Flagler Beach, Florida. She is predeceased by her husband Ronald Gilpatrick who passed away on Feb. 20, 2026; her brother Roger Denault, her sister Lorraine Charron and her daughter-in-law Sharyl Gilpatrick. She is survived by three sons, Gill Gilpatrick of Chicopee, Matthew Gilpatrick and his wife Katie of Watertown, CT and Adam Gilpatrick and his fiancé Melissa of Chicopee; two daughters, Gisele Gilpatrick of Chicopee and Sara Tetreault and her husband Ed of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren, Freddy Gilpatrick of New York, Corey Gilpatrick and his girlfriend Caitlin Perez of Chicopee, Josh Malone and his wife Laura of Chicopee, Kali Foley and her husband Tony of Springfield, Ryan Malone and his wife Katy of Cottbus, Germany, Tyler Gilpatrick, Kyle Gilpatrick, Selena Gilpatrick of Chicopee, James Gilpatrick of Watertown, Tyler Quinn-Rosario, Logan Riether and Austen Riether of Chicopee; four great-grandchildren, Aiden Gilpatrick, Brennan Foley, Blair & Noelle Malone and one on the way. She also leaves her beloved sister-in-law Joyce Denault of Chicopee along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM with prayer Service at 2:30 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee.
