George Archilus Wright, Jr., 86, of Chula passed away Monday June 22, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Eulogies and memories will be given by Andy Dunn, Mary Ellen Hicks and Arthur Perrin. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. Mr. Wright will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
Born December 17, 1939, in Tift County, Mr. Wright was the son of the late George Archilus Wright, Sr. and Ruth Fulwood Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Virgilio Wright; and one sister, Elsie Ruth Wright, who passed away in October 2025. He graduated from ABAC and McNeese State College. He was a cattle rancher and a member of Irwinville Methodist Church.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife Marilyn Wolfe Wright of Chula; one daughter, Vishala Wright of Tifton; two grandchildren, Justin Baker and G G White; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden White and Brison Dixon.
