In Loving Memory of James “Opie” Tyler
Sunrise: October 9, 1953 – Sunset: June 16, 2026
James “Oppie” Tyler was born on October 9, 1953, in Waynesboro, Georgia. He was a man with a larger-than-life personality who never met a stranger. Oppie was a devoted and loving life partner to Donna Franklin. Wherever you saw one, the other was never far behind. Their bond was a true example of love, companionship, and loyalty.
Oppie had a personality that could light up any room he entered. He was known for his quick wit, infectious laughter, and unforgettable sense of humor. You either loved him or disliked him, but one thing was certain—you never forgot him.
In his favorite words, “Where’s My Money?” and if you owed him something, he was sure to remind you! His playful spirit and unique sayings brought laughter to family and friends throughout the years.
Oppie enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved dancing, telling jokes, and spending time with those he cared about. He could often be seen relaxing in front of the television watching his beloved westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and cheering on his favorite wrestling matches.
Though Oppie has departed from this earthly life, the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Oppie was preceded in death by his father, Judson Tyler; his mother, Ethel Lewis Tyler; his beloved son, Rocky; and a host of cherished siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted life partner, Donna Franklin; his son, Andrew Murray; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever mourn his passing and celebrate the life he lived.
In His Favorite Words: “Where’s My Money?”
And now, we know when you said “Jesus,” you hit the jackpot. No more suffering, no more pain.
Rest in Peace, James “Oppie” Tyler.
You will be truly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
