Obituary

Paxton - Joanne M. (Inglis) Belisle of Paxton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on August 25, 1938, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Joanne was the daughter of the late John W. Inglis and Johanna N. (O'Connor) Inglis.

Joanne was the beloved wife of Charles A. Belisle, with whom she shared a life of love and devotion. During Charles's service in the United States Air Force, the couple spent several years living in Europe as well as many locations in the U.S.

After her graduation from Lowell Tech, she was the Librarian for the graduate school of Biology at Brandeis University, a position she held until her marriage. With Chuck’s assignment to Ankara, Turkey she served the as Head Librarian for the entire Mediterranean Command. Subsequently, she served as Librarian for the US Army’s Second General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Relocating again, she taught mathematics and computer programing courses at Phillips College in Gulfport, MS.

She is survived by her loving children, Nicole Belisle-Garza and Charles I. Belisle; her cherished grandchildren, Margaret B. Garza and Daniel B. Garza; and her sister, Nancy I. Gilson of Ohio.

A devoted Catholic, her passing will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at St Columba Church 10 Richards Avenue, Paxton at 3 PM on Friday, June 26. Entombment will be at later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery – Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Joanne may be made to Second Chance Animal Services of East Brookfield.
