
OXFORD___George A. Anusauskas, Sr., 86, of Oxford, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Throughout his life, George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend whose kindness, humility, and quiet strength touched all who knew him.
George is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara A. (Santon) Anusauskas; his son, George A. Anusauskas, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, and their three daughters, Elizabeth, Allison, and Samantha; his daughter, Mary Beth Hughes and her husband, Steve, and their three children, Madison, Colin, and Lauren; his daughter, Katherine Anusauskas and her daughter, Azahra; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
George was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Susan E. Anusauskas, in 2014, with whom he shared a special bond. He was also predeceased by his sister, Eleanor M. Walinsky, in 2004.
Born in Worcester, George was the son of the late Alexander J. and Mary E. (Pigoga) Anusauskas. He was a graduate of St. John's High School, Worcester Junior College, and Northeastern University. A proud veteranof the United States Army, George served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.
George enjoyed a successful career as a manufacturing engineer. He worked for Heald Machine Company and later for Jamesbury Corporation before joining Byram Healthcare.
George found great joy in spending time with family and friends. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed playing pitch at the American Legion Post in West Boylston. One of his proudest accomplishments on the golf course was achieving a hole-in-one at Highfields Golf & Country Club. He also took great pride in winning the rib competition at his nephew's annual festival, a distinction he enjoyed talking about for years afterward. George was a proud member of the former Knights of Lithuania and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Maironis Park, where he celebrated his Lithuanian heritage and formed many lasting friendships.
A devoted grandfather, George rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's sporting events, dance recitals, concerts, and other activities. He was a loyal supporter of all New England sports teams and enjoyed challenging himself with elaborate jigsaw puzzles. George will also be remembered for his quickwit, dry sense of humor, and perfectly timed one-liners that brought laughter to family gatherings and friendships alike.
A man of deep Catholic faith, George practiced his faith regularly throughout his life and quietly lived its values through kindness, humility, generosity, and service to others.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church prior to the Mass.
