Obituary

Worcester – Alice L. Belanger, 97, a longtime Worcester resident passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 in Care One at Millbury after an illness.

Alice was born in Worcester, MA being child number 10 out of 11 in the Belanger Family. She is predeceased by her parents, Albert M and Leontine (LaForest) Belanger as well as all of her 6 brothers, Robert, Lionel, Edward, Emil, Norman and Gerard Belanger and her 4 sisters, Jeannette Elia, Dorothy Gish, Irene Ostergard and Bernadette Courchaine

Alice attended the Worcester Public Schools and then continued her education by earning a Nursing Degree from the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She then entered the United States Navy serving in the United States Navy Nurse Corp. during the Korean War.

Upon returning from her service in the Navy, Alice worked at many medical facilities throughout the Worcester area, including the former Worcester City Hospital and Saint Vincent Hospital. She was a longtime parishioner at the former Notre Dame des Canadiens Church in Salem Square where she was active and volunteered in many capacities to help her church.

She was talented at all textile crafts and was an avid gardener. She loved being with her family, especially when her niece and nephews would come for a sleepover. She made the best pancakes and Jiffy Pop!

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23 at 11 AM in the Dirsa – Morin Memorial Chapel 298 Grafton St. Worcester. Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home prior to the start of the funeral service.
