Obituary

Aurora B. Jackson was born June 21, 1952 in New Braunfels, TX, one of six children, to the late Maria and Margarito Bernal. She passed away in Valdosta, GA on June 10, 2026 with her husband and children by her side. Aurora spent the first half of her life as a military child and then wife, raising her two children with her first husband, Robert L. Young (deceased). During that time she lived a life of adventure, travelling all over the United States and Europe experiencing all that she could and building life-long friendships while ensuring a culturally rich upbringing for her children. In the second half of her life, Aurora found her true soulmate in Donnie Jackson and they spent nearly 30 years laughing, loving and keeping each other on their toes at their home in Ocilla, GA.

Throughout her life, Aurora worked in a range of fields from positions in her children’s high schools to law enforcement. Her true passion was in all things artistic. She loved creating and collecting beautiful things and sharing them with others. Aurora had a truly giving heart. Many of her stories revolved around helping and caring for neighbors. She loved giving whatever she had to lift others. Aurora had a heart for adventure. She loved travelling and spending time with her family. She had a witty sense of humor and took great joy in making others smile and laugh.

Aurora is survived by her husband Donnie Jackson; son, Lenny Young; daughter, Robyn (Doug) Heath; grandchildren: Abigail, Rylee, Isaac, and Reed; and siblings: Amelia, Linda, Ofelia, Ruben, and Raul. And, of course, her faithful dogs, Kiera and Dakota.
