Lorraine (DiResto) Moore passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026.
Born in Far Rockaway, New York, Lorraine was the youngest child of Peter and Agnes (Nickerson) DiResto. She grew up in Rockaway Beach and graduated from Far Rockaway High School. On November 14, 1964, she married the love of her life, John "Jay" Moore. Together they shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage and raised two daughters.
In 1978, Lorraine and Jay moved to Derry, New Hampshire. While Jay worked as a mail carrier, Lorraine held several part-time retail positions before finding her favorite job as an after-school childcare provider for the Derry Village School Afterschool Program.
Lorraine dedicated her life to caring for others. She lovingly cared for her family and, in later years, faithfully cared for Jay during his battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, especially summer days at Wallis Sands Beach. Those outings often began with mini powdered donuts and coffee. Lorraine loved music, dancing, and singing. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Moore and Pamela Shore and her husband, John, her grandchildren; Matthew Shore and his wife, Olivia Baud, Sadie Shore, and Rose Shore, her sister, Constance Mohr; her brother, Robert DiResto, and her brother-in-law, William Moore. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter DiResto, Jr, and her beloved husband, Jay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lorraine's memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445, or online at dana-farber.org/gift.
A Celebration of Life honoring both Lorraine and Jay will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 3 Martha Drive, Derry, NH. Family and friends are invited to share memories over bagels and coffee. Reach out to Pam at [email protected] for additional information.
