LONGMEADOW – Anthony S. Marangoudakis, 75, of Longmeadow, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, June 11, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Skine, Chania, Crete, Greece on January 6, 1951, the biological son of the late Spiro and Georgia (Michelaki) Marangoudakis and his adoptive parents, Peter and Maria Marangoudakis. He was born in Crete, Greece then immigrated to the United States in 1964 where he settled in Springfield and became an American citizen on November 14, 1968. He later moved to Longmeadow in 2009 where he lived the remainder of his life. In his younger years, he learned the restaurant business directly from the Blake brothers at the Friendly's Restaurant in East Longmeadow. He managed several restaurants in the surrounding area before opening his own place. Working tirelessly, day and night with his wife, Niki, by his side, for 15 dedicated and happy years he was the owner/operator of the Rinaldi's Italian Specialties in Enfield, CT. His employees and customers were like family to him. He was a devoted member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a member of the Cretan Club and the AHEPA, all in Springfield. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Anthony enjoyed watching the wildlife, especially the deer and wild turkey in his back yard. He enjoyed playing the lyra for his family and friends, was a champion dart player, loved working on his 1954 Chevy Belair, and was very handy and always willing and able to fix anything for anyone. Most of all, Anthony loved his family whole heartedly and will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He leaves his loving wife and best friend, Niki (Papalionaki) Marangoudakis. They were married on September 20, 1981 at the Church of Christ in Skine, Greece and were blessed with over 44 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving and devoted children, Spiro Marangoudakis of Ludlow, Chrisoula Marangoudakis and her husband, Jason Abram, of Brattleboro, VT, and George Marangoudakis of Los Angeles, CA; his two cherished granddaughters, Ariadni Niki Abram and Iliana Anthea Abram; his dear brothers, Christo Marangoudakis and his wife, Maria, of Greece and Kosta Marangoudakis and his wife, Maria, of Springfield; his dear sister, Effie (Marangoudakis) Peroulakis and her husband, Nick, of Westfield; his dear brother-in-law, Stavro Papalionaki and his wife, Katherine, of Webster, MA; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and friends in the United States and in Greece. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Steve Marangoudakis. Anthony will Lie in Repose on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. There are no visiting hours at the funeral home. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Cretan Club, Minos Crete General Fund, 35 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
