Marvin Dewey Messex, Jr. 61, of Tifton passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his residence. A funeral service will be held for Mr. Messex at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Mr. Messex will be laid to rest at a later date.
Born July 13, 1964, in Savannah, Mr. Messex was the son of the late Marvin Dewey Messex, Sr. and Patricia Ann Whitaker Messex. He was a skilled welder and handyman. Cooking and being outdoors were things that he loved. He was a good man and wanted to bring joy into the lives of people around him. He enjoyed life and lived it on his own terms. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Messex is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dustin Messex of Meigs and Brent and Courtney Messex of West Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Tim Harnage of Tifton and Kim and Mark Pearson of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
