Obituary

Kaitlyn Mariby Hindley, 23, of Ventura, California, passed away at home on May 23, 2026, after complications with an illness. Kaitlyn was born in San Francisco to Joel and Melinda Hindley on November 3, 2002. She graduated from El Camino High School in 2021, and attended and played sports for Ventura High. She also attended Anacapa Middle, Norwell Middle, Cohasset Middle, and Our Lady of Fatima in Lakewood, Colorado.

She graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2025, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She played on the UCSC softball team, became a sushi chef, and met her beloved life partner there. In 2025, she began working for The Arc of San Diego, and found her calling enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. She planned to get her master’s degree in social work and continue helping those in need.

Kaitlyn enjoyed basketball– she was a team captain, softball– she was an amazing fielder and pitcher, and skateboarding– she could jump seven stairs. She enjoyed her youth group and was confirmed at Our Lady of the Assumption. She loved her family deeply, and was a strong big sister and devoted daughter. She met friends whom she treasured wherever she went. She adored her cat, Tiger, and her dog, Bonus.

Kaitlyn brought so much joy to us all. We remember her kindness, her quick wit, her shining blue-gray eyes, her infectious laugh, her beautiful smile, her passion for life. We are saddened by her sudden passing, but we know she is still with us, a newly-born angel, and she is happy with God in Heaven.

She is survived by her parents, Joel and Melinda Hindley, her brother and sister, Patrick Hindley and Celeste Hindley, her partner, Sabrina Tabiu, her grandparents, William (Jay) and Marty Fisher, and Peter and Donna Brazauskas, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who love her dearly.

Services for Kaitlyn will take place at Boyko & Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary & Cremation, at 15 Teloma Drive, in Ventura. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 11, from 4-8pm. The funeral will be held on Friday, June 12, at noon. You are invited for refreshments after the service.
