Obituary

It is with so much sadness that we announce the passing of Susan M. Laferriere, 62 of Cranston, RI on May 16, 2026.

Sue leaves behind her sisters Denise R. Medeiros (Laferriere) of Cranston, RI and Kristine C. Laferriere of Friendship, NY as well as her beloved nephew, Max Medeiros and his husband Timothy Yi, of Chelsea, MA, he niece Mya Medeiros, of Las Vegas, NV, as well as uncles, cousins and countless friends.

Although her long battle with alcohol was lost, we know she is now at peace and reunited with her parents, Roger R. Laferreire and Pamela A. Remington. Rather than perpetuate stigma, we choose to acknowledge her struggles to spread awareness and understanding that recovery is possible. Sue will be remembered as who she truly was, a loving “sis” and “aunty”, and a fiercely loyal friend and confidant, filled with empathy, understanding and kindness. She lit up any room when she walked into with her bright, beautiful smile, infectious humor and warm caring nature. When she gave a hug she enveloped you in her arms and her love. Sue was happiest by the beach or anywhere she could soak up the sun. She loved a good country song, cookouts and crab boils, and a good true crime drama. An avid sports fan, she loved cheering on her home teams, the Boston Red Sox, and the Patriots. She loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and could belt out a Bon Jovi karaoke song that would make the man himself proud.

Sue was a graduate of Prout Memorial High School and worked as a phlebotomist for over 20 years at Roger Williams Hospital. She also lent her significant talents in this field to St. Luke's Hospital, in expert witness testimony, and most recently at East Side Laboratory. A private memorial will be held for family and friends at an upcoming date. Rest easy, sissy.
