Obituary

Rose Chacran Zartarian
May 11, 1928 – June 4, 2026

Rose Chacran Zartarian, née Wolohojian, died peacefully at home in Belmont, Massachusetts at the age of 98.

Born and raised in Arlington, Rose graduated from Arlington High School, and graduated from Boston University thereafter. A committed educator, she taught business at Fisher College for many years. After she retired from teaching at the college level, she turned to teaching high school students in the Lexington school system.

Rose was a dedicated wife and daughter who cared for, loved, and committed herself to her family, especially to her parents and her husbands. She was widowed twice, having enjoyed the love of two wonderful husbands who admired her spirit, her sense of humor, and her great sense of style.

Rose led an active social life, particularly through her church and with the Belmont Women’s Club, of which she was a long-time dedicated member and officer. A talented violinist in her youth, Rose's love of music and the arts animated her throughout her lifetime.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mugrdich and Mendoohi (Keljikian) Wolohojian, her husbands, Jay Chacran, and Major Robert Zartarian, her brother, Dr. Albert Wolohojian, and her beloved nephew, Jon Andrew Wolohojian.

She is survived by her brother John (Anita) Wolohojian, her sister-in-law, Florence Wolohojian, her nieces and nephews, the Honorable Gabrielle Wolohojian, Dr. Stephan Wolohojian, Michael Aram Wolohojian, and Lucine Almas Delins, and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Matiss Delins, Luna Delins, Thadeus Aram, and Anabel Aram.

Her memory will remain present in the lives of all whom she touched.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Cross Armenian Catholic Church, 200 Lexington Street, Belmont, Mass. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation hour will be held in the church sanctuary from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., immediately prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Armenian Catholic Church or to the Belmont Women's Club.
