
Joel Stewart Adelman of Ventura, CA passed away at home on June 2, 2026. Joel was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Toba and Charles Adelman and was raised in the Lincolnwood neighborhood. He graduated from Northwestern University and enjoyed a successful early career as a CPA with Ernst & Young. In 1973 he moved his family to Los Angeles to serve as Controller and ultimately Executive Vice President of C&R Clothiers. In retirement, he became an active volunteer at the Ventura Community Memorial Hospital and a dedicated member of the Ventura Marina Men's Golf Club. He was a member of his beloved "Lovin' Levelers" camping club for nearly 50 years.
Joel was a devoted and loving husband to Judy Adelman, whom he married on March 21, 1965. Together, they raised their three sons, Jeff, Craig, and Ron, in Westhills. He was an extremely supportive father, a quality reflected in the success of each of his sons. His grandchildren, Jared, Michael, and Emily, were his ultimate pride and joy. He was often seen proudly wearing their college gear and cheering them on in everything they pursued, from club sports to debate competitions.
He is survived by his beloved wife, his sons, daughters-in-law, and his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ventura Community Memorial Hospital, Temple Beth Torah, or Valley Outreach Synagogue, or the charity of your choosing.
Funeral services will be Friday June 5, 2026 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Temple Beth Torah, 7620 Foothill Rd, Ventura, CA 93004. Following the service, a graveside burial will take place at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd, Ventura, CA. Following the burial, the family is hosting a reception at the Ventura Marina Community Clubhouse, 1215 Anchors Way, Ventura, CA. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
