Mary Alice Nolfi, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Ventura, California at the age of 103. She was born on October 17, 1922, in Chula Vista, California. Mary Alice was the third child of Frank J. Norton and Audra S. Thompson of Rockford, Michigan and spent most of her life in San Diego County. She is a graduate of Sweetwater High School and worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator. During WWII she worked for Rohr Aircraft Company. She met our father, Walter Jordan, on a blind date in 1941. They were married on March 14, 1943, and lived their early years on I Street in Chula Vista, often hosting social gatherings. In 1952, they built a home and moved to Bonita. They had 27 years of happy adventures together until Walter’s untimely death in 1971. She moved to the Anza-Borrego Desert with her second husband, Coleman Tidwell. With her third husband, James Nolfi, she moved to the resort community of Borrego Springs where she enjoyed playing golf with Jim and her sister Margaret, and hosting Easter get togethers with her large family. Mary Alice was a member of the Methodist Church throughout her life and loved singing with the choir. She had a beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). She enjoyed playing Bridge and crochet in her free time. She spent her last years in Ventura near her daughter, Lynn, living at the Townehouse. Many thanks to the wonderful staff.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert and sister Margaret and by her 3 spouses. She is survived by her 3 children, Mary Lynn Kempton (Richard), Audra Jeanne Tarkeshian, and David Walter Jordan (Margo), 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
