Obituary

BUXTON- Robert “Bob” Bouthiet Sr., 85, of Buxton, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home on May 28, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Bob was born on July 17, 1940, in Westbrook, Maine, to Phyllis (Bangs) and Donat P. Bouthillette. Bob attended Westbrook schools, and grew up there with his brother, Donald W. Bouthiet.

In 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Peggy Barron of Alabama. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, family, and adventure. Bob’s greatest joy was always his family — his wife Peggy, his two sons, his 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandchildren.

Bob and Peggy shared many memorable road trips over the years, traveling to Alabama, Florida, and many places in between, creating countless memories together along the way.

Throughout his life, Bob worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for the Westbrook Spinning Mill, Brinks, Fresh Samantha, and later dedicated 24 years to the Gorham School Transportation Department before retiring due to health concerns.

Bob had a special love for birds that eventually grew into a passion for rescuing parrots alongside Peggy. At one point, the couple lovingly cared for 13 parrots. His beloved bird, Angel, will forever miss him.

Bob will also be remembered for the simple but meaningful question he always asked his grandchildren: “Did you learn anything new today?” Those words reflected his caring nature and his belief in curiosity, growth, and family connection.

Bob’s love, humor, and legacy will live on through his family who adored him and will miss him deeply every day.

Bob was predeceased by his mother Phyillis Bangs and her husband Mahlon, his father Donat, & his son Ricky. Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years Peggy, his brother Donald, his cousin Wayne Jones, his lifelong friend Jane Sinclair, his son Bob Jr & his wife Tracey, granddaughters Ali Pennell & her husband Mark, Liz Bouthiet & her partner Dalton, his 3 great grandchildren Emma, Daxton & Weston, his bird Angel and many nieces and nephews.
