Obituary

WEBSTER- James T. “Chin” Latour, 68, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after battling cancer.

Born in Webster on April 10, 1958, he was the son of the late Norman B. and Lorraine T. (Eno) Latour and remained a lifelong resident of the town he loved. Jim graduated from Bartlett High School with the Class of 1976.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate of 33 years, Cindy J. (Collins) Latour, whom he considered the love of his life. He also leaves behind his cherished daughter, Brittany A. Latour and her significant other, James Walters, of Ocoee, Florida. Jim was incredibly proud of Brittany and often spoke of all she had accomplished at such a young age. Their father-daughter bond was truly unbreakable.

He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Latour and his wife Linda of Quinebaug, CT; his sister, Linda Latour of Thompson, CT; his mother-in-law, Nancy (Eldredge) Collins of Webster; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion and beloved dog, Jasper.

Known affectionately by many as “Mr. Jim,” he dedicated much of his life to serving his community. For 22 years, Jim worked as Head of Maintenance for Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and Saint Anne’s School, where he became a familiar and trusted presence to generations of parishioners and students. For much of his life, Jim also worked a second job at Charniak Insurance, where he formed many lasting friendships. He later joined the Massachusetts Trial Court in Westborough, where he found what he fondly called his “second family.” He retired last November due to illness.

Jim was a lifetime member and current director of the Booster Athletic Club, an organization that meant a great deal to him. He treasured time spent with family and friends, especially sitting around a campfire with Jasper nearby. He loved the outdoors, golfing, New England sports, and traveling with Cindy to Aruba. A devoted baseball fan, Jim enjoyed visiting as many baseball parks as possible throughout his life.

Above all else, Jim was a devoted family man. He especially cared for his mother-in-law Nancy, always making sure she was safe and that her home was well cared for. His kindness, loyalty, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Thursday, June 4, at Mount Zion Cemetery on Route 12. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Booster Athletic Club, 215 North Main Street, Webster.

Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 111 Young Road, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515, or to the Booster Athletic Club, 215 North Main Street, Webster, MA 01570.
