Avrun “Avi” Craig Krim, 78, of Watertown, MA
Avrun Craig Krim passed away on May 23, 2026, after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was 78 years old. Known to family and friends as Avi, he was a man of genuine curiosity and wide-ranging interests who lived life on his own terms.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Great Neck, NY, Avi came to Boston to attend Northeastern University and made the area his home for the rest of his life, settling in Cambridge and later Watertown. He was deeply Jewish in identity and culture, and he carried this heritage with pride and shared it with family and friends throughout his life.
Avi was a lifelong learner whose curiosity about the world never faded. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, about almost any subject, and was always eager to share facts and learn something new.
He had a passion for tending his roses, a love of many kinds of international cuisines, and a particular affection for dogs — both his own and any others who were lucky enough to cross his path. Above all, he cherished his family and his grandchildren, Eli and Talia, and was enormously proud of the people they are becoming.
He is survived by his son, Eben Krim; his daughter-in-law, Hannah Kiernan; and his two grandchildren, Eli and Talia, of Montclair, NJ.
Avi will be remembered for his intellect, his individuality, and his enduring curiosity about people and the world around him. He lived independently, thoughtfully, and entirely in his own way.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
May his memory be a blessing.
