Anne was a very happy spirit and was a high energy person who enjoyed life to the fullest. Being a naturally optimistic person she had many friends and always looked for the best in people in life. She was loved by all and had many wonderful friendships over the years. Having grown up during WWII she was a very patriotic person who loved her Country and military traditions.
Anne grew up in Pasadena, CA and rode in many Rose Bowl Parades. Anne learned to swim at the Laguna Beach and Tennis Club with her grandparents at her side. She loved the smell of the Pacific Ocean and always would say the Pacific Ocean smells so much better than the Atlantic. Soon WWII would change her life forever and her family moved to Washington where her father led the Petroleum Institute as a lobbyist for the larger U.S. oil companies. Anne graduated from the Cathedral School and so loved it notwithstanding the academic rigor.
Anne went to Sweet Briar College in Virginia where she met Polly Plumb who introduced Anne to Polly’s older brother Bob Plumb. Bob was a pilot in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA. Anne received her Masters in Education at Harvard and taught several years. Anne and Bob were soon married and had their first child Robert J. Plumb III. Soon Anne would have her second child Anne H. Plumb where they resided in Princeton, NJ for many years.
Anne’s husband Robert Plumb Jr. passed away in 1979 and in a few years she met John “Jack” L. Kelsey and they were married shortly thereafter. Anne and Jack were happily married for 31 years and lived happily in Rumson, NJ and Vero Beach, FL Also also so loved Cape Cod where her parents had a home in East Orleans. She loved Cape Cod and visited there in the summer months often to be affectionately known as “Granny” to all her little ones and the larger family.
A memorial gathering of family members will be held at a future date. Any donations may be made in Anne’s memory to a cancer hospital of your choice and would be greatly appreciated by Anne and her family.
