Huiyun Luo, a longtime resident of Andover, passed away peacefully at the Andover Manor Nursing Center on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026. She was 85 years old.
Born in Jiujiang, China, Huiyun was a college graduate who went on to build a distinguished career as a high school chemistry teacher at Fudan University High School in Shanghai, where she devoted many years to educating and inspiring generations of students. In 2001, she immigrated to the United States to join her family and begin a new chapter of her life.
A woman of deep faith, Huiyun was a devoted practitioner of Falun Dafa and cherished the freedom she found in the United States to practice her beliefs openly. She lived each day guided by the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, and she gave generously of her time and heart to help bring an end to the persecution of Falun Dafa in China.
Family was at the center of everything Huiyun did. She lovingly helped raise two of her grandchildren, and her strong will, caring heart, and unmistakable resilience left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Huiyun is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Zhang-McKenna and her husband Michael McKenna of Andover, and Haihua Zhang and her husband Robert Kelleher of Winchester; and her three beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Ian McKenna of Andover, and Olivia Kelleher of Winchester.
Calling hours will be held at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. Burial will be private.
