Sharon Jernigan Benefield, 75, of Enigma passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating, Mrs. Benefield will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Bowen- Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Lee Frazier, John Domagala, Austin Frazier, Hayden Patterson, Kylen Patterson, Hugh Jernigan and Chad Gay will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 15, 1951, in Tift County, Mrs. Benefield was the daughter of the late Hubert Lee Jernigan, Sr. And Rheupert Paulk Jernigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Benefield, who passed away in 2017; and one brother, Hubert Lee Jernigan, Jr. She graduated from Tift County High School in 1969 and then received a business and nursing degree from ABAC, where she received the Most Outstanding Student Award in her nursing graduation class. She worked and retired as a registered nurse at Tift Regional Medical Center. After retirement, she worked for Dr. Don Roberts; and she was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Benefield is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and April Frazier of Ty Ty; two daughters and one son-in-law, Serena Patterson of Ty Ty and Anna and John Domagala of Tifton; five grandchildren and their spouses, Austin and Rebecca Frazier, Savannah Frazier, Hayden and Gabbie Patterson, Kylen Patterson and Brianna Domagala; three great-grandchildren, Addie Frazier, Evie Frazier and Hazel Patterson; a sister-in-law, Linda Jernigan; and several nieces and nephews.
