Nellie Elizabeth Gooden (86 years old), of Brockton, MA, passed away on April 20, 2026 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.
Born on September 22,1939 in Westmoreland, Jamaica, she was the daughter of late Alfred Gooden and Ida Gooden.
Nellie was employed in the hotel industry in her native Jamaica prior to her retirement. She was a devoted woman of faith who loved the Lord and found great joy in her church community. She had been a member of Poplar Hill Baptist Church in Georgia before relocating to Brockton.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Parkes Edwards of Brockton and Sandra Walker of Georgia; her son, Lloyd Parkes of New Jersey; a cherished legacy of 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Raymond Gooden of Jamaica.
Funeral Services will be held at the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Friday, May 1st at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton.
