Orminda M. (Do Souto) Oliveira, age 95, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on April 21, 2026. She was born on Nov. 29, 1930 in Alcobaca, Portugal, daughter of the late Francisco Do Souto and Maria Rosario. Orminda moved to American in 1970 and has been a resident of Springfield for 45 years and of Chicopee for 10 years. She was a communicant of the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish and most recently of St Rose de Lima Parish. She worked at the Spaulding Company for over 20 years before she retired. She loved gardening, cooking and crocheting, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is predeceased by her husband Manuel Oliveira who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her son Horacio “Dan” Oliveira and his wife Michelle of Huntington; two daughters, Cecilia Rebelo and her husband Gentil of Chicopee and Maria Roy and her husband Daniel Roy of Chicopee; one sister, Maria Rosario Do Souto of Portugal; seven grandchildren, Silvia Fine and her husband Mark, Daniel Rebelo and his wife Kelly, Nicole Roy and her husband Michael Gonet, Brittany Roy, Andrew Oliveira, Angelia Oliveira, Tomaz Oliveira and his wife Katelyn; three great grandchildren, Nico, Dario and Gianna and three great-great grandchildren, Lino, Harlyn and Mara. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends and her beloved dog Luna, who will miss her dearly. Calling hours will be held on Sun., April 26, 2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee and on the morning of the funeral, Monday, April 27, 2026 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will take place in St Rose de Lima Church at 11:00 AM followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
