David W. Rushia, 85 Dateline: Norton, MA David W. Rushia, age 85, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his adoring family on Monday, April 20, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Albro) Rushia, with whom he would have shared their 60th wedding anniversary on April 23rd. Born in Gardner, MA on March 3, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Walter W. and Annette R. (Plante) Rushia. David grew up in Gardner and was a 1959 graduate of Gardner High School. For 3 ½ years, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged from duty on December 6, 1962, with the rank of Airman First Class. A resident of Norton for the past sixty years, Mr. Rushia was a retired Postal Clerk, having worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-eight years. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, a member and past president of the Friends of Texas Instruments, a member of the Norton VFW Post 8049 and a member of the Friends of the Norton Senior Center. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, tending to his yard and gardens, but most of all his favorite times were those spent amongst his treasured family. Of great joy, were his many great grandchildren and their visits to share stories and make memories. He was affectionately known as "Pepere" to so many young people in his life and he will be sadly missed by all knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife, he was the devoted father of Patricia A. Rushia of Middleboro and the late David T. Rushia. He was the cherished grandfather of Stephen Rushia, Shelbi Rushia and Jacob Rushia. He was the dear brother of Gary Rushia of Gardner and the late Donald Rushia and Paul Rushia. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. Services, along with burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
