SACO/HOLLIS - Martha “Mary” Neal, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the Barron Center in Portland.
She was born on July 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Bradbury) Grant and graduated from Hollis High School in 1952.
She was a school bus driver for MSAD#6 for 22-1/2 years and a part-time custodian when the schools were on break.
She will always be remembered for the enjoyment she had for gardening, yard sales, and socializing with family and friends. She seemed to know someone wherever she went, and if she didn't, she usually made new friends with her outgoing personality. She was a regular fixture first at The Station House Grill (formerly Don's Market) with her husband and family, and then at Tory Hill Café on Fridays with other members of the Grant family.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Robert E. Neal; and all three brothers - Merton, Walter, and Owen Grant.
She leaves behind five children - Robert W. Neal, Roxanne Hood, Roslynn Landry, Richard Neal and his wife Lynn all from Hollis, and Rhonda Phillips-Perseille of Dayton; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2pm, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home at 3pm. Burial will be held at the South Buxton Cemetery on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
