Marcia Jane Doherty, age 90, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. She was the beloved wife of Paul R. Doherty. Born in Woburn, she was one of ten children of the late Peter and Evelyn (Phinney) Foley.

Marcia will fondly be remembered by her family and friends as a gracious, beautiful and kind person, always concerned for others and their wellbeing. Born and raised in Woburn, she graduated from Woburn High School in 1953. She began her career at Woburn National Bank, and later Marcia's five boys became the primary focus in her life. She especially enjoyed sharing in the special moments and many accomplishments of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and never missing a milestone. The back room of Marcia and Paul’s home was affectionally called “Nana Camp”. It was where all the grandchildren spent countless hours and days in a rite-of-passage with their Nana, growing up and learning how to be kind and caring people (and probably sharing a few whoopie pies too).

Marcia enjoyed many lifelong, loyal friendships including her “club”; with who she travelled, played golf and tennis and shared many of life’s special moments. Marcia was also a strong proponent of healthy living, and taught everyone the importance of good nutrition and wellness - decades before it became more widely accepted.

Marcia spent the last years of her life devotedly caring for Paul in their longtime home on School Street. Their 67- year marriage was a shining example for us all. Supportive, loving and always laughing together, they shared countless adventures and travels. Lake Winnipesaukee always held a special place in their hearts for the time spent with family skiing, boating and spending time together. She will be forever missed.

Marcia was the devoted mother of Peter Doherty and his wife Susan of Lunenburg, Mark Doherty and his wife Diane of Woburn, Tom Doherty and his late wife Carolyn of Reading, Michael Doherty and his wife Cristina of Winchester, and Tim Doherty and his wife Laurie of Woburn. Cherished grandmother of James, Brian, Dan, Melissa, Madison, Marisa, Evan, Chloe, Tara, Taylor, Corie, and Liam Doherty. Loving great grandmother of Cameryn, James, Teagan, Lena, and Caleb. Cherished sister of Jack Foley and his wife Karen, Tom Foley and his wife Linda, Charles Foley, Danny Foley and his former wife Debbie, the late Nancy Brooks and her late husband John, the late Peter Foley and his surviving wife Pat, the late Claire McLaughlin and her late husband Bernie, the late Paul Foley and his surviving wife Pauline, the late David Foley and his surviving wife Irene. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, April 24th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions in Marcia's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 320 Nevada St., Newton, MA 02460.
